SOLAR ECLIPSE IN AQUARIUS CHEAT SHEETS BY RISING SIGN

Eclipses bring change. And with change comes all of our anxieties about how to meet it. This particular eclipse sits in the last degrees of Aquarius. It shares space with Mars and is square to Uranus. It’s ruled by fallen Saturn in Aries.

One of the major themes of this eclipse has to do with the tension between being exiled and being an icon. Being a stranger and standing out. Being an outsider, wanting to belong and feeling like the only way to do that is to situate oneself in the spotlight.

The public eye is uncomfortable because Saturn prefers to hang back at the edges. Watch from along the wall. Saturn will take part but usually by holding the line, from the safety of the shadows. And now Saturn is trying to step into the light. But the light is literally going out - for a moment. The Moon is moving in front of the Sun who has been lighting up Saturn’s domain of Aquarius. And Saturn in the early degrees of Aries, finally tries to step into the spotlight only to find oneself once again in the shadow, encircled by a ring of fire.

At first this feels like futility, especially in the parts of your chart that contain Aquarius. Saturn is trying to accomplish something in Aries and needs the tools of the Aquarius house to get the job done. In Aries, Saturn feels rushed. Stuck in the ring of fire, survival instinct kicks in. A sort of internal thrashing of fight and flight but all Saturn can do is freeze lest he get burned.

This experience can create quite a bit of anxiety. There is a way out, though it requires some deft maneuvering and will likely not be overnight.

Mars and Saturn are currently in a sign-based mutual reception. This means they are in each other’s homes. They are also in a sign-based sextile. This means that even if they don’t like each other, even if there’s tension, they are more inclined to help because they have what one another needs:

  • Mars needs speed to function, while Saturn prefers patience.

  • Mars requires the heat of passion, Saturn likes frosty detachment.

  • Mars wants to plunge its sword into its adversary while Saturn will build a wall to keep them at bay.

  • Mars seeks glory while Saturn strives for the security of the margins.

The part of your chart that contains Aquarius and the part of your chart that contains Aries need to reconcile these different approaches to challenge. The Aries part will bring all of those Mars things to Saturn. The Aquarius part is bringing all of those Saturn things to Mars. Below is a cheat sheet/reference list of where the tension between the shadows and spotlight, patience and speed, challenges and triumph are occurring based on your rising sign.
