TAROTSCOPES | JULY 2 - JULY 8
X WHEEL OF FORTUNE
Do you think a feather considers how long it spends floating in the wind? Is it concerned with getting where it’s going? Does the eucalyptus keep track of the seconds it spends, hanging still and solemn, casting cooling scents over drying summer grass beneath it? Could you scatter the moments of your life before you like a coin collection untucked from tiny boxes? Would you want to? Are memories made and timed to minutes on a clock, ticking away in a way that feels unbearable? Or do you tumble out over fences like the passion flower desperate to show off how uniquely strange you are, ready for a photograph and framed by hands so ecstatic to see you that they can’t refrain from cradling your unrivaled panache? Do you creep between the cracks of bricks like ivy dancing over grids as if to say “your supremacy is for sissies”? Could you slink along the wooden planks between homes like a scrawny but scrappy alley-cat, turning barriers into bridges without thinking twice or looking back?
Borders are the bare bones of the structure that Mars in Aquarius is determined to break. With almost every planet retrograde this summer, it seems that rules do not apply in ordinary ways. The government breaks the laws of humanity, placing personalities on a pedestal while the people praise principles that long could have been in practice. Aquarius is an innovator. An exception. An illegal because it defies the norm yet its status in the sky is one of higher minds and hearts. Cancer season’s tides rely on the laws of the land to bring them back to shore, crashing onto sands that don’t question how small they are. And so, rules we make for this month apply only to ourselves. They are born from our breath and baked for the breadth we intend to cover as we track back into deep personal and collective history.
The Wheel of Fortune is a nod to every natural cycle that emerges from our being. As you dive into this week, look to the patterns and spirals that spout from your life. Notice where you’ve been here before, as yourself or as another character in the scene of your life. Do you sound like your mother when you slam the door? How about when you reopen it? Does your father’s voice ring true to tune as it escapes from your mouth, belting angry antics, valuable lessons or soft-spoken signs, each sitting like mile-markers on a highway? Do you take space from yourself like your brother used to do when you were too hard on him? Do you come back hours later to gift yourself a hug, looking up with admiration and respect at everything you processed in the quiet? Do you have moments where you begin to understand why you were taught what you were? Can you have compassion for everything you weren’t given and gratitude for the experiences that led you to this moment of understanding the source of symptoms you didn’t cause and can’t control?
Life is full of circles that are not level with the plane of time. Rather, they move up and down, in and out, spiraling until we come back to the same place, with different tools. When the energy moves forward, we gain higher ground and lay of the land but we might miss key details and themes. When planets are retrograde, we backtrack to rediscover what we overlooked. We pause for the view. We take off our shoes only to find we’re wearing someone else’s. In those moments, we experience the relief and grace of not having played and not being required to play every part. This week, allow time to do the work for you. Allow it to slip into the fibers and fables beneath your skin. Let it tie up loose knots as it tells you the parts of the story that you glossed over in your hurry to grow up. Sometimes awakening brings torment. Flooding dark with light doesn’t mean the scene is pretty. If the Wheel carries you to places that are painful, remember that an uncovered wound continues to fester and a discovered one finds relief in forgiveness. Start by knowing that the dreamcatcher woven by time’s tale is much more intricate than we want to imagine. Let blame float away with Aquarian winds and give yourself permission to begin and re-begin wherever and whenever you are.
WHAT EVEN IS A TAROTSCOPE? We often think of horoscopes as predictions that are specific to each astrological sign. In Ancient Greek, the term horoscope simply means "I watch the hour." To astrologers today, a horoscope is a chart that maps the planetary bodies in the sky. From this chart, we derive meaning that can influence how we work with energy. Regardless of our unique individual charts, we are ALL working with the same energy from above. Each week, I examine this energy, pull a tarot card and write a guided meditation with the collective in mind. My tarotscopes are meant to be read as inspiration. Please note that because we are all operating with our individual energy, some elements will resonate more than others. Take what you like and leave the rest. Tarotscopes are offered freely in an effort to cultivate collective healing. I am always grateful for your support in sharing this work with anyone you think it might help. If you are inspired or find support here, please consider making a donation to help sustain these weekly offerings.
