TAROTSCOPES | MAY 14 - MAY 20
XIV | TEMPERANCE
On Tuesday, Uranus - a god who represents liberation and flight to outer space heights - enters Taurus, the sign of our most stable and enduring earth. Uranus will spend about 7-8 years in this sign. Throughout this period, Uranus will work relentlessly to break down our values so we can build stronger ones. To rip up our resources so we can renew our relationship to the source. To tear apart our tried and true methods so we can test every type of soil and find the most fertile ground. The alchemy between air and earth is not always familial but it is freeing. It will take a certain kind of magic to scoop up handfuls of dirt, to softly let it slip through our fingers, spreading its seeds with the wind. To allow earth to erode and to draw a new map that fits the fresh formations. To speak volumes to our vision for higher humanity with a cutting-edge code of ethics. To hold our hopes accountable through communication that is as clear as a dark sky lit up by bolts from the blue.
This week, as Uranus enters Taurus, we get to test our ability to handle such an exceptional combination. We get to gain awareness of how we respond in tiny and titanic crises. We might see uncomfortable shifts in our infrastructure this week. Remember this movement is helping us un-tie ourselves from the things we didn’t know were keeping us tethered. We get to know ourselves so we can secure the knots that nourish our collective nets. We feed each other best when we know what and how Earth offers residence for the relationships energized by Air. Uranus, ruler of idealistic Aquarius, is creator of the wilyest and wildest outside-the-box thoughts. Quirky, but with an overlying aura of genius that only comes from not being trapped, Uranus in Taurus is the definition of defying gravity.
Temperance represents the exact combination needed to survive the most staggering experiences. Neither excessive nor minimalistic, the great heron is simple in its solitude. A rare sighting, the heron spends most of its time like a shaman in the mountains. When we receive the gift of being graced by its presence, it sends a signal of strength that was summoned when it set out to know itself through its relationship to nature. It represents wisdom gathered and later applied at the most appropriate moment. It offers a kind of opulence that only emerges from attentive observation and the ability to use its mastery in the most mercurial circumstances. Still as a statue, the heron portrays the patience required to wait out even the most trepid storms. To sit until we know more about our place in this world before making a move that leaves us mental. I often say that minor arcana cards are directive actions while majors show us energies that we can only work with by allowing them to work us. This week, let Temperance flow through you. Let it teach you its lessons by taking the time to reflect like a heron on water. Study the shimmer of your image in the waves. See how you shift with the tides. Know you have the power to slow down or speed up your stroke. You can’t control the pace of the river run but you can choose to swim with or against the current. Sit and contemplate the understream as it changes directions. Take as much time and as many sips of air as you need - again and again and again. Make the smallest movements and watch the magnitude of their ripples as you register your power and place in the inferno of all the living things.
WHAT EVEN IS A TAROTSCOPE? We often think of horoscopes as predictions that are specific to each astrological sign. In Ancient Greek, the term horoscope simply means "I watch the hour." To astrologers today, a horoscope is a chart that maps the planetary bodies in the sky. From this chart, we derive meaning that can influence how we work with energy. Regardless of our unique individual charts, we are ALL working with the same energy from above. Each week, I examine this energy, pull a tarot card and write a guided meditation with the collective in mind. My tarotscopes are meant to be read as inspiration. Please note that because we are all operating with our individual energy, some elements will resonate more than others. Take what you like and leave the rest. Tarotscopes are offered freely in an effort to cultivate collective healing. I am always grateful for your support in sharing this work with anyone you think it might help. If you are inspired or find support here, please consider making a donation to help sustain these weekly offerings.
