TAROTSCOPE | DECEMBER 2 - DECEMBER 8
II THE HIGH PRIESTESS
When we talk about the passive principle, it is difficult to situate it without contrast to the active. Duality implies unity. The thing being reflected is a prerequisite to a reflection. Thus, when we embody the High Priestess, we are called to awaken our inner mirror. To feel not into the argument itself, but whatever edges might be framing it. The High Priestess is an inner guide that never leaves us, much as we might neglect her. She is the invisible friend, made visible to anyone willing to behold their hand.
A gut instinct is both the Summoner and a summons. It deciphers internal disputes. What is our internal world if not a likeness of the outer reality?
When the High Priestess appears we do not go inwards. We allow the inner experience to permeate us. We wait. We watch. We make no judgements. We acknowledge what we know. We surrender what we don’t.
Sometimes referred to as the guardian of the veil, the High Priestess is most at home in dawn and dusk. In the moment when we hover between worlds. When we straddle the line that distinguishes above from below. This is the crossroads. The intersection of drive and wildering. The kiss of perception and obfuscation.
To embody the High Priestess is sometimes to reveal hidden elements of others to them. It is to be willing to dance with what they see and what they unconsciously and perhaps intentionally hide from themselves. This takes great skill and a fervent sense of responsibility. The High Priestess is neither active nor sharp. She does not force a judgement. Her truth unfolds only when questions are begged and it usually takes a soft and circular form. This week, do not be so intent to throw your visions to those who are not ready or wanting to see them.
The High Priestess is perhaps most useful to each of us individually. We can ask her a great many things but she requires our time, patience and devoted willingness to wade in murky waters for longer than we might like. Her gifts come to those who focus their gaze but demand no reponses. Be willing to see the forms that guide your thoughts. Feel into the fabric rather than distracting yourself with surface level embroidery. Most often the answer is not in the question you ask but the way in which you ask it.
WHAT EVEN IS A TAROTSCOPE? We often think of horoscopes as predictions that are specific to each astrological sign. In Ancient Greek, the term horoscope simply means "I watch the hour." To astrologers today, a horoscope is a chart that maps the planetary bodies in the sky. From this chart, we derive meaning that can influence how we work with energy. Regardless of our unique individual charts, we are ALL working with the same energy from above. Each week, I examine this energy, pull a tarot card and write a guided meditation with the collective in mind. My tarotscopes are meant to be read as inspiration. Please note that because we are all operating with our individual energy, some elements will resonate more than others. Take what you like and leave the rest. Tarotscopes are offered freely in an effort to cultivate collective healing. I am always grateful for your support in sharing this work with anyone you think it might help. If you are inspired or find support here, please consider making a donation to help sustain these weekly offerings.
