CADENCE AS A GUIDE: A DIVE INTO ASTROLOGICAL RESEARCH

Cadence Guide Astrological Research.JPG

UPDATE: FEB 21ST 2021

The first round of research consults are closed! Thank you to everyone who has participated. I’ll be taking time to reflect, write and integrate what I’ve learned. I will likely open up a second round of research consults in the summer or fall of 2021.

I am well versed in the benefit of flipping perspective. Inside out, upside down. Sideways, halfways and all ways. As Jupiter joins Saturn at home in Aquarius, I am launching some astrological research on which I have been writing and meditating for a long time.

Jupiter appreciates experience. Postures on insightful principles in theory and experiments. More often than not, Jupiter loves to take a sweeping philosophical view.

Saturn deals with how we structure things. Saturn is the God of Time. Saturn shows us the shape of things and has a good reason for why they work the way they do.

I have been meditating on the structure of an astrological chart, which is essentially, a map of the sky at a single moment in time. In that sense, it is a measure.

An astrological chart situates us between a before and an after.

It is a frame that defines a particular moment which, when captured as a birth of a person, ripples across time in the shape of that person’s experiences, the wisdom they bring to them and the knowledge gleaned from their life’s events.

As such, an astrological chart is designed to show us the motion of the sky and planets, so we can determine what leads up to that key point and what follows.

You may have heard me speak of this before: a chart operates with two types of motion:

Zodiacal motion is the movement of planets, stars or points through the zodiac wheel.

Diurnal motion is the apparent motion of the sky around the earth.

Often, when astrologers are working with timing techniques like transits and progressions, we are looking at zodiacal motion. Zodiacal motion is really useful for telling us when planets transit the angles of a natal chart. The angles of a chart show us where planets rise in the east, culminate overhead, set in the west, and touch the furthest point below the earth.

When planets, especially outer planets, pass an angle in zodiacal motion, that person is likely going through a significant change. This is concept is important and helpful for talking to clients about when things happen, explaining the nature of what might occur, and offering suggestions or reframes for how to work with it.

My primary mission as an astrologer is to affirm, encourage, strengthen, and expand my clients’ capacity to be with life’s challenges. Most people come to me asking for guidance. So I have been studying ways to examine the angles of a chart that give my clients the guidance they need, especially in upheaval.

Relatedly, I have been thinking A LOT about timing techniques and the benefits of incorporating a method that focuses on diurnal motion. The theory (which I have already begun testing and is appearing to ring true), is that planets or points on the separating side of an angle, or holding a position of prominence in relationship to the sign on the separating side of an angle (in diurnal motion) are time keepers, time markers and time tellers. They stand at or hold the threshold.

They are the tenders, the welcomers, the escorts, advisers, stewards, counselors and models for how to cross the entryway.

They are guides, initiators, and powerful confidants in moments when we feel like we’ve slipped into a portal and we need help understanding where to go.

I don’t expect anyone to completely understand this theory right now. I fully plan on writing a whole book about it one day so other astrologers can work with it too. At the moment, I am devoted to collecting data. I will be honing focus on this particular technique for an extended period of time. As I dive in, I’m hoping that you will join me for test drive.

Accordingly, I will be offering lower cost 60min research consultations to anyone who would like to participate. You can find these sessions on my regular scheduling page. These readings will be very similar to regular natal chart sessions but I will specifically be allocating time and attention applying this technique. This is an ideal consultation for anyone:

-going through a big life change
-looking for fresh perspective, especially on issues that feel like part of a pattern
-searching for guides; planetary, spiritual, ancestral or otherwise
-feeling lost, confused or directionless
-looking for help with love and relationships
-needing affirmation or counsel related to career and legacy
-excavating familial trauma or doing ancestral healing work
-re-envisioning their identity

For the record, I’m about 95% confident that this theory works. I have seen it time and again in charts of clients, family and friends. This research is meant to refine my understanding, collect data, and thresh out the details of how this technique functions in different parts of the chart. I want to plunge headfirst into this concept, play in its shadows, and creep through its cracks in order to better grasp its functionings. Ultimately, I and other astrologers will be able to use this method to better serve the people, which is, ideally what it’s all about.

These consultations will start at $50 for a 60min session. Are you ready to converge at the threshold with me? If so, look for the “Research Consultation” on my booking page.
